US Department of Labor - Office of Disability Employment Policy
- Job Accommodation Network - Guidance on job accommodations (can search by disability to find lists of possible accommodations) and disability employment. They also provide one-on-one guidance.
U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
- U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission - Enforces federal laws making discrimination illegal. Employers generally need to have at least 15 employees to fall under their purview.
ADA National Network
Website - Has regional offices nationwide. Maintains a comprehensive FAQ regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Additionally, they give a brief yet useful overview of the ADA. Mental Health Conditions in the Workplace and the ADA - This page is of particular interest and use for our workgroup. Has some great advice on disclosing and both employee- and employer-specific sections.
Surgeon General
- 2022 Surgeon General’s Framework for Mental Health & Well-Being in the Workplace - 30 page report focusing on 1) Protection from Harm, 2) Connection and Community, 3) Work-Life Harmony, 4) Mattering at Work, and 5) Opportunities for Growth.
- 1999 Mental Health: A Report of the Surgeon General - Not workplace-specific and a bit dated, but much more comprehensive (almost 500 pages).
International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
- ISO 45003: Psychological health and safety at work - NOTE: This posting falls under section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976, allowance is made for “fair use.” A guide to psychological health as seen through an occupational health and safety lens.

- Workforce Resilience - Includes a 24 page “Suicide Prevention in the Workforce Employer Toolkit,” industry-specfic mental health guides (for the construction, hospitality, and legal industries), and a series of video webinars.

Canada Life (an insurance company)
- Guarding Minds at Work - Includes a 61-item employmee survey, an organizational review, and a 6-item stress satisfaction scan. Additionally, has links to both a Psychologically Safe Leader Assessment and a Psychologically Safe Team Assessment. NOTE: I haven’t really had a chance to dive into these yet, but they seem very useful and are free… if you live in Canada (or are willing to pretend you do).

- Being a Mindful Employee: An Orientation to Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace - free 90 minutes course. “Gain an understanding of the 13 factors that influence psychosocial health and safety in the workplace.”
- Reducing Mental Health Stigma in the Workplace - free 30 minute course. “Stigma can be a powerful barrier to workplace mental health. This 30-minute course will cover what stigma is, how it causes harm, and how to address it.”
- Psychological Health and Safety Awareness - free 20 minute course. “An introduction to psychological health and safety in the workplace, including psychosocial factors and the roles of employers and employees.”
- Assembling the Pieces Toolkit - free toolkit. “Get practical advice for implementing the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.”
- National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace - 71 page document detailing voluntary standards and recommendations for practices that create psychological health in the workplace
Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) - Canada
- Workplace Mental Health: A Review and Recommendations - 25 page document covering costs of poor mental health, recommendations for business leaders, and recommendations for government.
